Poker

I place my bets, and know what i wish to win. I draw a card, and drop some more. All i hope to do is win this game. She smiles, and ups the bet. I know i have lost. I know it's over, and soon she will win. But i don't think it hurts to lose. She may win the money between us. But i will keep what I hold dear. I will always have her, as she smiles at her wins, and hugs me for my loses. She will rub it in my face, my failure at the game I taught her, but in the end it is I who wins. because I have her and she is happy.

I kiss her softly and pat her on the butt, glad to know she is happy and proud of herself. I begin to shuffel for another game, when she says "Why not forget the money, and play strip poker?" I dropped the deck in shock.

Suddenly I wished with all my heart, that I was better than her and that her first victory was pure luck.

Soon I'd learn... it was not just luck...
